Hi, I'm Laura!

I am a bilingual Spanish-speaking Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Cognitive Psychology from the University of California, Irvine and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University.

I have worked with adults, families, adolescents, and children in a variety of settings, including outpatient programs, field-based community mental health, and non-profit organizations. I'm trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as several modalities to help parents navigate challenges with children and adolescents, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).

In my free time, I enjoy baking, walking my dog, and spending time with my family.

My Approach

Trauma can affect emotions, relationships, beliefs, and the body. A trauma-informed approach recognizes that your past experiences can shape how you think, feel, and respond today. Instead of asking “What’s wrong with you?” we explore “What happened to you?” with compassion and without judgment. Therapy focuses on building safety, understanding your nervous system, and helping you regain a sense of control in your life. At your pace, we work toward healing the impact of trauma while strengthening resilience, connection, and confidence.

Trauma-Informed

I approach therapy with a deep respect for your cultural background, identity, and lived experiences, recognizing how these shape the way you move through the world. As a culturally aware and LGBTQIA-inclusive therapist, I strive to create a space where all parts of who you are feel seen, valued, and safe. Through a systemic lens, I consider the broader contexts—family, community, culture, and society—that influence your wellbeing. Together, we explore how these layers impact your strengths and your struggles, honoring the heritage and identity you bring into the room. My goal is to support you in a way that is affirming, empowering, and aligned with your unique story.

Inclusive and Culturally-Aware

Strength-Based

Rather than centering only on problems or symptoms, we look at the skills, values, and experiences that have helped you navigate life so far. Together, we build on those strengths, highlighting what already works and expanding the capacities you naturally bring into challenging moments. This approach helps you reconnect with your resilience and gain confidence in your ability to create change. Instead of seeing yourself through the lens of what’s “wrong,” we focus on what’s possible and what’s already within you. Over time, these strengths become powerful tools for healing, growth, and self-trust.
